Budget Impact: Sensex down 300pts

The Sensex is now down 291 points at 9,337.

Jaiprakash Associates has slumped 7% to Rs 70, and Reliance Infrastructure has plunged 6.7% to Rs 531.

Reliance Communications, Larsen & Toubro, SBI and Sterlite have shed around 5% each at Rs 172, Rs 667, Rs 1,136 and Rs 262, respectively.

BHEL, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, DLF and Reliance have dropped around 4.5% each to Rs 1,399, Rs 185, Rs 415, Rs 154 and Rs 1,332, respectively.

Ranbaxy has slipped nearly 4% to Rs 204. ONGC and HDFC Bank have declined 3% each to Rs 683 and Rs 918, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,282 stocks traded so far, 1,442 have declined, 749 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
