Agriculture minister predicts 2005-06 will be one of the best year for production

"Wheat stock situation is comfortable. We have enough for our requirement and thus, no imports are required," Pawar said on the sidelines of the Assocham seminar.

Wheat output in 2004-05 is slightly lower than 72.11 million tonne in 2003-04. However, industry is estimating the 2004-05 crop to be as low as 69-70 million tonne thereby raising the issue of imports of wheat to meet the country's requirement.
