Cardamom prices declined by Rs 4.70 to Rs 906 per kg in future trade today as speculators locked in gains amid slackness in demand at existing higher levels.

Fresh arrivals in the spot market from producing belts also put pressure on cardamom prices in futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September declined by Rs 4.70, or 0.52%, to Rs 906 per kg with a business turnover of 29 lots.

The August contract lost Rs 3.70, or 0.41%, to Rs 889.10 per kg in 191 lots.

Analysts said apart from profit-booking by speculators, a fall in demand at prevailing levels in the spot market also pulled down cardamom prices in futures trade.
