Cardamom down 0.3% on low demand, higher supply

Spice for delivery in January shed 0.2%

Cardamom remained weak for the second straight day and prices fell further by 0.30% to Rs 704 per kg in futures trading today as speculators trimmed positions amid low demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February fell further by Rs 2.10, or 0.30% to Rs 704 per kg in business turnover of 27 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in January shed Rs 1.50, or 0.22% to Rs 676 per kg in 105 lots.

Analysts said speculators trimmed their positions on the back of low demand in the spot market against higher supplies from producing region mainly kept pressure on cardamom prices at futures trade.
