Cardamom down 1% on low demand, higher arrivals

Cardamom for delivery in November traded lower by 0.4%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices fell by Rs 8.20 to Rs 739.30 per kg in futures trade today due to the adequate stocks availability in the physical market following higher supplies from the producing belts.

Besides, subdued spot demand also put pressure on cardamom futures here.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in October declined Rs 8.20, or 1.09%, to Rs 739.30 per kg in a business turnover of 302 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in November traded lower by Rs 3.50, or 0.44%, to Rs 790.70 per kg with trading volume of 39 lots.

Market analysts said off-loading of positions by traders amid higher supplies from producing belts and low spot demand mainly led to a fall in cardamom futures prices.
