Cardamom prices rose for the second straight day by adding Rs 20.30 to Rs 864.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions on rising demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September rose by Rs 20.30, or 2.39% to Rs 864.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 135 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in June edged up by Rs 1.70, or 0.21% to Rs 794.10 per kg in 421 lots.

Traders said firming trend at the spot markets on the back of a rising demand amid slow down in arrivals from southern producing regions mainly led to rise in cardamom futures prices.
