Cardamom prices fell by Rs 23.20 to Rs 1,120.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at existing higher levels, driven by weak trends at spot markets.

Increased arrivals from producing regions further fuelled the downtrend in cardamom futures.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the April delivery declined by Rs 23.20, or 2.02%, to Rs 1,120.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 695 lots.

The May contract fell by Rs 15.10, or 1.17%, to Rs 1,270 per kg, with a trading volume of 242 lots.

Market analysts said speculators booking profits at prevailing higher levels amid subdued demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position mainly kept pressure on the cardamom prices at futures trade.
