Cardamom prices fell by Rs 20.50 to Rs 1,169.30 per kg in futures trading today largely due to sluggish demand in spot markets.

Adequate stocks position in the physical market following higher arrivals from producing belts also put pressure on cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September fell by Rs 20.50, or 1.72%, to Rs 1,169.30 per kg, with a business turnover of 381 lots.

The October contract lost Rs 16.60, or 1.37%, to Rs 1,196 per kg in 38 lots.

Marketmen said sluggish demand in the spot market against higher supplies from producing regions mainly led to the fall in cardamom futures.
