Cardamom prices dipped by Rs 46.50, or 3.98 per cent, to Rs 1,121.40 per kg in futures trading today, as speculators reduced their positions, triggered by sluggish demand in spot markets.

Increased arrivals from the producing regions also put pressure on the cardamom prices in futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, cardamom for September dropped by Rs 46.50, or 3.98 per cent, to Rs 1,121.40 per kg, with an open interest of 850 lots.

The spice for delivery in October also fell by Rs 27.60, or 2.54 per cent, to Rs 1060 per kg, with an open interest of 1,524 lots.

Marketmen said positions reduced by speculators at existing higher levels, fall in demand in spot market mainly pulled down the cardamom prices at futures market.
