Cardamom prices declined by Rs 32 to Rs 1,076.70 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits amid sluggish demand at the spot markets.
Adequate stocks in the physical markets following increased arrivals from the producing regions also put pressure on cardamom futures prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April declined by Rs 32, or 2.88 per cent, to Rs 1,076.70 per kg, with a business volume of 227 lots.
The prices for delivery in May declined by Rs 19.20, or 1.68 per cent, to Rs 1,118.40 per kg, with a business turnover of 68 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in the current month shed Rs 1.70, or 0.16 per cent, to Rs 1,035 per kg, with an open interest of 59 lots.
Market analysts said besides profit taking by speculators at prevailing high prices, sluggish spot demand also put pressure on cardamom futures prices.
