Cardamom prices fell by Rs 9.40 to Rs 1,027 per kg in futures trade today due to sluggish demand at existing higher levels.
Fresh arrivals in the spot market from producing belts also put pressure on cardamom futures prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July fell by Rs 9.40, or 0.90% to Rs 1,027 per kg, with a business turnover of 19 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in June shed Rs 9.10, or 0.88% at Rs 1,022 per kg, with a business turnover of 33 lots.
Cardamom for May delivery contract moved down by Rs 7, or 0.69% to Rs 1,000 per kg, with a business volume of 45 lots.
Analysts said besides profit-booking, fall in demand at existing higher levels against fresh arrivals in the physical market also led to the fall in cardamom prices at futures trade.
