Cardamom prices fell by Rs 21.70 to Rs 1,134.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in profit-booking, driven by a weak trend at the spot markets due to sluggish demand.
Adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from the producing regions also put pressure on the cardamom prices in futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April fell by Rs 21.70, or 1.88%, to Rs 1,134.40 per kg, with a business turnover of two lots.
June cardamom shed Rs 20.10, or 1.74%, to Rs 1,137, with a business volume of eight lots.
Traders said besides profit-booking by speculators, subdued demand in the spot market also weighed down cardamom futures prices.
