Cardamom traded lower for the second straight day by Rs 52.80 or 3 per cent to Rs 1,707.60 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators booked profits at the existing higher levels.
Increased arrivals at spot markets from the producing belts also put pressure on cardamom prices in futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for July-month contract fell Rs 52.80, or 3 per cent to Rs 1,707.60 per kg, with an open interest of 2,088 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in June contract also dropped by Rs 33.60, or 1.86 per cent to Rs 1,770 per kg, with a business turnover of 770 lots.
Analysts said profit taking by speculators at existing higher levels amid fall in demand led to a fall in cardamom prices in futures trade.
