Cardamom futures prices moved down by Rs 25.80 to Rs 1,512.80 per kg today, as speculators booked profits at existing higher levels amid fall in demand in the spot market.

Fresh arrivals from the producing regions also put pressure on the cardamom futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March contract fell by Rs 25.80, or 1.68 per cent, to Rs 1,512.80 per kg, with a trade volume of just one lot.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in February moved down by Rs 22.20, or 1.49 per cent, to Rs 1,469.50 per kg, with a business volume of one lot.

Market analysts said besides profit booking by speculators at existing higher prices, fall in demand in spot market also put pressure on cardamom futures prices.
