Cardamom prices were up by Rs 2.50 at Rs 621 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions, motivated by a rise in spot market demand amid the marriage season.
Low arrivals from producing regions also influenced cardamom futures prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in December rose by Rs 2.50, or 0.40%, to Rs 621 per kg in 227 lots.
In a similar fashion, the spice for January contract delivery edged up by 90 paise, or 0.14%, to Rs 641 per kg in 77 lots.
Market analysts said increased buying by speculators on the back of rising spot market demand driven by the ongoing marriage season mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices in futures trade.
