Cardamom futures prices rose by Rs 14.90 to Rs 656.20 per kg today, as speculators created fresh positions, driven by a rising demand in the spot market against less arrivals from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in January rose by Rs 14.90, or 2.32%, to Rs 656.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 623 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in December gained Rs 10.60, or 1.54%, to Rs 634.50 per kg, with a trade volume of 1,242 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in cardamom futures prices to a firming trend at the spot market on pick-up in demand amid less arrivals from producing regions.
