Cardamom prices rose by Rs 22.50, or 1.48 per cent to Rs 1,541 per kg, in futures market today on rising demand at spot markets driven by the ongoing marriage season.

Restricted arrivals in physical markets from producing regions also supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, cardamom for June-month contract rose by Rs 22.50, or 1.48 per cent to Rs 1,541 per kg, with an open interest of 1,366 lots.

Similarly, the spice for July-month contract gained Rs 6.60, or 0.46 per cent to Rs 1,448 per kg, with a business turnover of 337 lots.

Traders said, rising demand at spot markets followed by the ongoing marriage season, against limited arrivals from the producing regions led to a rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
