Cardamom prices today recovered by Rs 14.70, or 1.20 per cent, to Rs 1,235 per kg in futures trade, as speculators created fresh positions on the back of pick up in spot demand at physical markets.
Restricted arrivals at spot market from the producing regions also influenced the rise in prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, cardamom for August-month recovered by Rs 14.70, or 1.20 per cent, to Rs 1,235 per kg, with an open interest of 2,546 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in September gained Rs 3.90, or 0.36 per cent, to Rs 1,100 per kg, with a turnover of 1,949 lots.
Traders said fresh positions created by speculators, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market mainly led to a recovery in cardamom prices in the futures market here.
