Continuing its rising streak, cardamom prices shot up by Rs 30 to Rs 1,600 per kg in the futures trade today, as traders enlarged their positions, driven by strong exports and domestic demand.
Limited arrivals from producing regions in the spot market too influenced the cardamom prices at futures market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, cardamom for March-month jumped up by Rs 30, or 1.89 per cent to Rs 1,600 per kg, with a business turnover of single lot.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in January-month rose by Rs 21.80, or 1.50 per cent to Rs 1,470.60 per kg, with an open interest of just one lot.
Market analysts attributed the rise in cardamom futures prices to strong demand in physical market, amid lower arrivals.
