Cardamom prices rose by Rs 15.60, or 1.07 per cent to Rs 1,473.50 per kg in futures trade today on sustained buying to meet the seasonal demand.

Restricted arrivals in physical markets from producing regions also supported the uptrend.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for July-month contract rose Rs 15.60, or 1.07 per cent to Rs 1473.50 per kg, with an open interest of 412 lots.

The spice for delivery in June-month contract also moved up by Rs 8.90, or 0.61 per cent to Rs 1,476.90 per kg in 809 lots.

Traders said, sustained buying to meet the ongoing marriage season demand against limited arrivals from the producing regions led to a rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
