Cardamom prices fell by Rs 38.70 to Rs 1,380 per kg in futures trade today on continued profit booking by speculators amid fall in demand in the spot market.

Increased arrivals in the physical market from southern producing regions fueled the downtrend in cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for May contract fell by Rs 38.70, or 2.73 per cent, to Rs 1,380 per kg, with a business volume of single lot.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in February contract declined by Rs 32.40, or 2.43 per cent, to Rs 1,299.40 per kg, with an open interest of one lot.

Market analysts said continued profit booking by speculators, fall in demand in the spot market led to the decline in cardamom prices at futures trade.
