Cardamom prices dropped by Rs 27 to Rs 1,224 per kg in futures trade today on continued profit-booking by speculators, driven by a weak trend at spot market.

Increased arrivals from the producing regions also weighed down on the cardamom prices in futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for December month fell by Rs 27, or 2.16 per cent to Rs 1224.00 per kg in a single lot.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in January month shed 5.40, or 0.41 per cent to Rs 1,318 per kg in just one lot.

Marketmen said besides profit-taking by speculators, subdued demand in spot market also put pressure on cardamom prices in futures trade.
