Cardamom prices rose by Rs 18.70 to Rs 1,247 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators enlarged their positions on strong demand in the spot market, supported by the ongoing marriage season.
Restricted arrivals from the producing belt further fuelled the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, cardamom for December-month rose by Rs 18.70, or 1.52 per cent to Rs 1,247 per kg, with a business turnover of 4 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in March contract moved up by Rs 18.20, or 1.40 per cent to Rs 1,321 per kg, with an open interest of single lot.
Market analysts attributed the rise in cardamom futures prices to strong domestic demand and restricted supplies.
