Cardamom prices were up by Rs 9.90 to Rs 619.10 per kg in futures trade today, on firm demand in the spot markets on account of marriage and seasonal demand.

Limited stocks position in the spot markets following restricted arrivals from the growing belts, also supported the upside in cardamom prices at futures trade.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for December contract rose by Rs 9.90, or 1.62%, to Rs 619.10 per kg, with a trading volume of 828 lots.

The spice for delivery in February contract traded Rs 10, or 1.51%, higher at Rs 669.90 per kg, with a business volume of 131 lots, while January contract also moved up by Rs 8.70, or 1.36%, to Rs 647 per kg, with a business turnover of 422 lots.

Traders said rising demand in spot market on account of marriage season against restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures market.
