Cardamom futures prices moved up by Rs 22.60 to Rs 1,646 per kg today as speculators enlarged their positions on the back of firming trend at the spot market on pick up in demand.

Restricted arrivals in the physical market also influenced cardamom futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, cardamom for March delivery rose by Rs 22.60, or 1.39 per cent, to Rs 1,646 per kg, with a business volume of just one lot.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in February gained Rs 17, or 1.05 per cent, to Rs 1,633.80 per kg, with an open interest of just one lot, while that for Janauary was up by Rs 10, or 0.58 per cent, to Rs 1,600 per kg, with a trade volume of just one lot.

Market analysts said rise in cardamom futures prices was due to firm domestic and export demand amid restricted supplies.
