Cardamom prices rose by Rs 13.40 to Rs 935 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, triggered by a pick-up in demand in the spot market.

In addition, tight arrivals from producing regions also supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for November delivery rose by Rs 13.40, or 1.45% to Rs 935 per kg in a business turnover of 56 lots.

Similarly, the spice for August delivery gained Rs 6.70, or 0.80% to Rs 849.20 per kg in a business turnover of 142 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by speculators, supported by pick-up in demand in the spot markets mainly led to the rise in cardamom future prices.
