Cardamom prices rose by Rs 5.20 to Rs 794.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, supported by rising demand in the spot market for the ongoing festive season.

The tight stock position in the spot market amid restricted arrivals from producing regions further fuelled the uptrend in cardamom futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for September delivery rose by Rs 5.20, or 0.66%, to Rs 794.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 221 lots.

October contract gained Rs 4.80, or 0.58%, to Rs 837 per kg in 69 lots.

Analysts said fresh buying by speculators, driven by good demand in the spot market for the ongoing festive season, mainly led to the rise in cardamom future prices.
