Cardamom prices rose further by Rs 12 or 0.69 per cent to Rs 1,734.80 per kg in futures trade today on sustained buying by speculators on rising demand in spot market.

Restricted arrivals from producing regions also supported the rise in prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom price for August month contract rose by Rs 11 or 0.69 per cent to Rs 1,734.80 per kg in a trading volume of 63 lots.

Also, the September month contract gained by Rs 5.50 or 0.33 per cent to Rs 1,638.30 per kg in 91 lots, while July month contract inched by Rs 6.10 or 0.32 per cent to Rs 1,857 per kg in a trading volume of 59 lots.

Traders said pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions led to rise in cardamom prices at futures market.
