Cardamom prices rose by Rs 3.80 to Rs 649.30 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions, driven by pick-up in spot demand.

Tight stocks position due to restricted arrivals from the producing belts also supported the rise in cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, February cardamom rose by Rs 3.80, or 0.59%, to Rs 649.30 per kg with a business turnover of 31 lots.

The January contract edged up by Rs 2.50, 0.40%, to Rs 619.80 per kg, with a trade volume of 124 lots.

Market analysts said rising demand in the spot markets amid restricted arrivals from southern producing centers, mainly pushed up cardamom futures prices.
