Cardamom prices rose by Rs 13.70 to Rs 1,732.50 per kg in futures trading today on less supplies followed by rising demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for August-month rose by Rs 13.70, or 0.80 per cent to Rs 1,732.50 per kg with an open interest of 1305 lots.

The spice for delivery in July-month also gained Rs 1.80, or 0.10 per cent to Rs 1,853 per kg in 2489 lots.

Traders said rising demand in spot markets against restricted arrivals from the growing regions led to rise in cardamom prices in the futures market.
