Cardamom prices rose by 1.43% to Rs 860 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by pick-up in spot market demand.

Restricted arrivals from producing regions also supported the uptrend.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for October delivery rose by Rs 12.10, or 1.43%, to Rs 860 per kg, with a business turnover of 33 lots.

Similarly, the spice for September delivery gained Rs 7.40, or 0.92%, to Rs 808 per kg, with an open interest of 134 lots.

Analysts said fresh buying by speculators on pick-up in spot demand due to ongoing festive season against restricted arrivals from producing Southern region, mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures market.
