Cardamom rose by Rs 3.20 to Rs 822.90 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, supported by a rise in demand in the spot market.

Restricted arrivals in the spot market from producing regions also influenced cardamom futures.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for July delivery rose by Rs 3.20, or 0.39%, to Rs 822.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 516 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in August gained Rs 2.10, or 0.24%, to Rs 857.90 per kg, with an open interest for 212 lots.

Market analysts said cardamom futures rose on the back of a pick-up in spot market demand against restricted arrivals from producing belts.
