Cardamom futures prices rose by Rs 8.70 to Rs 667.90 per kg today, after speculators enlarged their positions, driven by a firm trend in spot markets on rising exports demand.
Also, restricted supplies from the producing belts influenced prices of the commodity.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for February contract rose by Rs 8.70, or 1.32%, to Rs 667.90 per kg, with a trading volume of 62 lots, while January contract prices surged by Rs 5.40, or 0.85%, to Rs 641.50 per kg, with a business volume of 236 lots.
The spice for delivery in December gained by Rs 3.70, or 0.54%, to Rs 604.50 per kg, clocking a business volume of 530 lots.
Traders said a pick-up in domestic and exports demand in the spot markets, supported the upside in cardamom futures prices.
