Cardamom prices fell by Rs 13.50 to Rs 1,024 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators booked profits at existing higher levels amid weak spot market trend due to fall in demand.

Increased arrivals from the producing regions also put pressure on the cardamom futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for February month fell by Rs 13.50 or 1.30 per cent to Rs 1,024 per kg in single lot.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in December month lost Rs 7.40 or 0.71 per cent to Rs 1,042.00 per kg in just one lot.

Market analysts said, besides profit taking by speculators at existing higher levels, fall in demand in spot market, also put pressure on cardamom futures prices.
