Cardamom prices gained 1.51% to Rs 1,043.40 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firming trend at spot market on pick up in demand.

Tight supplies in the physical market following less arrivals from producing region also supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April gained Rs 15.50, or 1.51% to Rs 1,043.40 per kg in business turnover of 1,044 lots.

The March contract moved up by Rs 11.90, or 1.14% to Rs 970.20 per kg in 1,579 lots.

Analysts said besides increased buying by speculators on the back of pick-up in demand in the spot market mainly led to rise in cardamom prices at futures trading.
