Cardamom futures today hit the daily lower limit of four per cent at the the Multi Commodity Exchange as speculators reduced their positions tracking weak cues from spot markets.

The December month contract fell by Rs 46.10, or 4 per cent, to Rs 1,105.90 per kg.

Similarly, the September contract fell by Rs 23.20, or 1.83 per cent, to Rs 1,248.00 per kg.

Analysts said increased supply in spot market against sluggish demand mainly pulled down cardamom prices at futures trade.

They said selling pressure was strong enough as prices hit a daily lower limit of four per cent, imposed by the exchange authority to avoid unwanted speculation.
