Cardamom maintained its upward march, rose by Rs 53.90 or 2.78 per cent to Rs 1,994.80 per kg in futures market today on increased buying by speculators and rising domestic as well as exports demand.
Paucity of stocks followed by less arrivals in physical markets also supported the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, cardamom for June contract jumped by Rs 53.90, or 2.78 per cent to Rs 1,994.80 per kg, with an open interest of 2,359 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in July contract also shot up Rs 40.30, or 2.13 per cent to Rs 1,928.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,347 lots.
Market analysts said increased buying by speculators on rising demand against restricted arrivals led to a rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
