Cardamom prices up 3% on spot demand

Cardamom prices shot up by 3% to Rs 1,384.40 per kg in futures trade today, supported by reports of adverse weather conditions in producing regions amid strong domestic and export demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, May cardamom rose by Rs 40.30, or 3%, to Rs 1,384.40 per kg, with a business turnover of 394 lots.

The April delivery traded higher by Rs 35.40, or 2.77%, to Rs 1,309.70 per kg, with business volume of 2,365 lots.

Analysts said the rise in cardamom prices was supported by spot demand and reports of adverse weather conditions in growing belts.
