Buoyed by strong demand in the spot markets, cardamom prices rose further by Rs 7.20 to Rs 700.50 per kg in futures trade today on brisk buying by speculators.

Besides, tight stocks in the spot markets also influenced cardamom prices at futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, September cardamom gained Rs 7.20, or 1.03% to Rs 700.50 per kg with trading volume of 141 lots, while October delivery rose by Rs 6.10, or 0.80% to Rs 768.20 per kg having a business volume of 158 lots.

The November contract also rose Rs 3.90, or 0.47% to Rs 818 per kg, with a turnover of 26 lots.

Traders said rising demand in spot market against restricted supply from producing regions, mainly led to the upsurge in cardamom futures prices.
