Cardamom prices moved up by Rs 15.50 to Rs 1,180 per kg in futures trade today as traders enlarged their positions, tracking a firm trend at the spot market on back of rising demand.

Less arrivals from producing regions influenced the cardamom futures.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September moved up by Rs 15.50, or 1.33%, to Rs 1,180 per kg, with a business turnover of 541 lots.

August cardamom traded higher by Rs 8.70, or 0.81%, to Rs 1,080 per kg in 40 lots.

Marketmen said fresh positions created by speculators, driven by a firm trend at the spot market on pick up in demand amid lower arrivals from producing belts, led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
