Cardamom prices rose by Rs 19.40 to Rs 1,233.80 per kg in futures trade today largely on the back of pick-up in demand in the spot market amid low stocks.

Restricted arrivals from producing regions also supported the rise in prices.

On the MCX, the June delivery surged by Rs 19.40, or 1.60%, to Rs 1,233.80 per kg in a business volume of 436 lots.

The May contract rose by Rs 19.10, or 1.58%, to Rs 1,225.40 per kg in a business volume of 436 lots.

Traders said pick-up in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions attributed to the rise in cardamom prices in the futures market.
