Cardamom futures today rose by Rs 21.40 to Rs 1,138.90 per kg at the Multi Commodity Exchange on pick up in demand in spot market.

The cardamom contract for delivery in November rose by Rs 21.40, or 1.91 per cent, to Rs 1,138.90 per kg in a trading volume of three lots, while October delivery surged by RS 12 or 1.02 per cent to Rs 1,190 per kg in a business turnover of 19 lots.

The September contract gained Rs 11 or 0.86 per cent to trade at Rs 1,285 per kg with business turnover of 61 lots.

Traders said pick up in demand in spot market due to ongoing festive season supported rise in cardamom futures.

They said restricted arrivals from southern region too supported the uptrend in prices.
