Cardamom rises 2.44% on less supplies

Cardamom prices rose by Rs 34.50 or 2.44 per cent to Rs 1,447 per kg in futures trade today on less supplies followed by rising spot market demand.

Fall in supplies from the growing regions also supported the uptrend.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, cardamom for August-month contract surged by Rs 34.50 or 2.44 per cent to Rs 1,447 per kg, with a business volume of seven lots.

The spice for delivery in July-month contract rose by Rs 26.50 or 1.87 per cent to Rs 1,446 per kg, with an open interest of 14 lots, while June contract also moved up by Rs 22.50 or 1.55 per cent to Rs 1,472 per kg, with a turnover of 12 lots.

 

Traders said rising demand in spot markets against fall in supplies from the growing regions mainly led to a cardamom prices higher at futures market.
