Cardamom rises by 0.5% as demand picks up

Rising demand in the spot markets mainly influenced cardamom prices

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices rose by Rs 3.70 to Rs 758.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created positions amid pick-up in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September month up by Rs 3.70, or 0.49%, to Rs 758.50 per kg in business turnover of 337 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in October traded higher by Rs 2.70, or 0.34%, to Rs 791 per kg in 30 lots.

Market analysts said rising demand in the spot markets mainly influenced cardamom prices in futures trade here.

Besides, tight supplies from producing region too supported the upside, they said.
