Cardamom futures prices extended gains for the second straight day by adding another Rs 5.50 to Rs 831 per kg today as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by a rise in demand in the spot market ahead of the festive season.

Less arrivals from producing regions also influenced cardamom futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for September delivery added Rs 5.50, or 0.67%, to Rs 831 per kg, with a business turnover of 205 lots.

The August contract edged up by Rs 1.50, or 0.20%, to Rs 752 per kg, with a trade volume of 89 lots.

Market analysts said increased buying by speculators, driven by a firming trend at spot market on rise in demand, mainly led to the rise in cardamom futures prices.
