Cardamom prices rose marginally by Re 1 to Rs 705 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by a pick-up in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in October edged up by Re 1, or 0.14%, to Rs 705 per kg, with a business turnover of 102 lots.

Similarly, for November delivery the spice rose by 50 paise, or 0.07%, to Rs 753.90 per kg in 58 lots.

Traders said fresh buying by speculators, supported by a pick-up in demand in the spot market due to the festive season amid restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly helped cardamom futures trade higher.
