Cardamom prices rose by Rs 19.70 to Rs 949 per kg in futures trade today largely on the back of pick-up in spot market demand amid low stocks following restricted arrivals from the producing regions.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for July delivery rose by Rs 19.70, or 2.12% to Rs 949 per kg with a trading volume of 11 lots.

Cardamom for June delivery advanced by Rs 19.40, or 2.11% to Rs 938 per kg, with an open interest of 55 lots.

The spice for delivery in May gained Rs 17, or 1.92% to Rs 904.50 per kg, with a business volume of 42 lots.

Traders said pick-up in the spot market demand against restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures market.
