Cardamom rises on good demand at spot markets

Cardamom prices rose by Rs 33.20 or 2.17 per cent to Rs 1,560 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators created fresh positions on rising demand at spot markets.

Marketmen said strong fundamentals on rising exports demand against restricted arrivals from the producing regions, kept the market sentiment high.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange cardamom for June-month contract rose by Rs 33.20 or 2.17 per cent to Rs 1,560 per kg, with a trading volume of 144 lots.

They said emergence of buying by retailers in domestic markets for the ongoing marriage season supported the uptrend in futures prices. 

 

The spice for July-month contract gained by Rs 32.20 or 2.33 per cent to Rs 1,413 per kg in 447 lots, while August contract up Rs 25.10 or 1.87 per cent to Rs 1,365 per kg, with a business volume of 129 lots.
