Cardamom futures prices rose by Rs 9.50 to Rs 1,652 per kg in futures trade today, as traders enlarged their positions on the back of increased demand in the spot market.

Limited arrivals from the producing regions also influenced the rise in prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for August month rose by 9.50 or 0.58 per cent to Rs 1,652 per kg, with an open interest of 1,209 lots. Similarly, the spice for delivery in September month gained Rs 7.60 or 0.50 per cent to Rs 1,517 per kg in 2,086 lots.

Traders said increased buying by traders on pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from the producing regions, caused the rise in cardamom prices in the futures market.
