Cardamom futures prices rose by Rs 15.80 or 0.99 per cent, to Rs 1,619.30 per kg today after traders enlarged their positions, supported by pick up in demand in the spot market.

Restricted arrivals from the producing regions also influenced the rise in prices.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for September contract rose by Rs 15.80 or 0.99 per cent, to Rs 1,619.30 per kg, with a trading volume of 79 lots.

The spice for August contract gained Rs 14.40 or 0.84 per cent, to Rs 1,732.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 57 lots.

July-month delivery went up by Rs 6.80 or 0.37 per cent, to Rs 1,858 per kg, with a trading volume of 41 lots.

Traders said pick up in demand in the spot market, against restricted arrivals from the producing regions, mainly led to a rise in cardamom prices at futures market.
